In recent years my website and this List have become known mostly for preaching repentance and opposing deception. In times like these this is obviously a needful thing. But there are also negatives to it. I have noticed that when people focus too much on the dangers of deception, they tend to go right over to the other extreme. They become quite “gun-shy” of anything miraculous – overly suspicious of anything ‘powerful’ that happens. They forget that God is an extremely “supernatural” God. They forget that the true gospel is supposed to be accompanied by healings and miracles – the mighty demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

Even if we preach with powerful conviction, the fact is, without
miracles I have to wonder whether we really are representing
true New Testament Christianity. I am totally convinced that we
must have both the ‘word’ and the visible demonstration of
God’s power. Just like they did in the Book of Acts.

In 1947 Smith Wigglesworth gave a prophecy about the “coming
together of those with an emphasis on the word and those with
an emphasis on the Spirit.” He said: “When the word and the
Spirit come together, there will be the biggest move of the Holy
Spirit that the nation, and indeed, the world has ever seen. It will
mark the beginning of a revival that will eclipse anything that has
been witnessed within these shores, even the Wesleyan and
Welsh revivals of former years….”

There it is – the WORD and the SPIRIT joined.

Let me ask a simple question: What did people “see” when they
came across Jesus’ ministry? They saw a simple, piercing
gospel being preached and also the ‘kingdom’ being domonstrated
through healings and miracles. That is basically what they saw.
And what did people “see” in the ministry of the apostles and
evangelists of Acts? They saw the same thing. An anointed,
piercing gospel and mighty demonstrations of God’s power – both
together. In fact, we really should ask ourselves, ‘Is it possible to
preach the gospel (in the full New Testament sense) without
healings and miracles?’ If we are being truly scriptural, surely
we would have to answer, “NO, IT IS NOT.” They are totally
designed to go together.

Another question- Why is the casting out of demons so important
in demonstrating the ‘kingdom’? Well – what it is showing is the
greater AUTHORITY found in the name and the ‘king-ship’ of
Jesus Christ. Even demons have to obey Him! Suddenly everyone
sees this beyond a doubt when a demon is cast out before their
eyes. I remember the first time I saw this happen as a teenager –
before I was a true Christian. The person screamed and writhed as
the demon was cast out – just like in the Bible. And what was the
result in me? CONVICTION! Suddenly everything was ‘REALLY
TRUE’! I felt like running forward and surrendering to God on the spot.

And this is why I have to question the casting out of demons in a
“back room” somewhere. Notice that Jesus never did this. He cast
out demons in PUBLIC – so that the ‘kingdom’ was demonstrated
and God was glorified. Notice too, that deliverance seemed to be
relatively quick and decisive.

We have got to see the ‘Word and the Spirit joined’ like this in our
day, my friends. And that is why I am so encouraged by recent
developments – even in my own life. Just a few days ago I prayed
for a lady that had been in hospital for a stomach operation with
all kinds of complications. Very unwell. But she was immediately
healed in the mighty name of JESUS!

I believe we have come into a “new season” where this kind of
thing will become the expected ‘norm’ every day. That is what I
have seen. And the great thing is that we are finding we can pass
this onto others also. I am convinced this is to be a day of “whole
body” ministry – where every Christian is out healing the sick,
casting out demons and preaching a mighty gospel. The day
of the “one man band” is coming to an end. Glory to Jesus!

Please post in love, my friends. Disagreement is fine but it is the way we do it that should show that we are not slanderers, gossips and back-stabbers like the world.

If we post with criticism let it still be constructive and not mean-spirited.

    Special blessings to all,

  2. I have looked at The Last Reformation that Andrew drew our attention to. It follows on from what Andrew is saying. I, personally, concur 100%.
If anyone wants to get deeper into what Andrew is saying I would suggest going through the 20 lessons from “The Pioneer School”.
I am excited and sense this is certainly of God. May he be glorified.
    Shalom from Zimbabwe

Your “Miricals is a must” artical is spot on, Andrew. Keep up the good work. regards, Kevin.

  4. Right on, brother!

  5. I agree. I saw the same things beginning to happen a few years ago. What struck me was the lack of having to ‘work up’ or strive for the miracles to happen. It was just like in the Last Reformation videos—just laying on of hands and praying in Jesus’ name and the person was instantly healed.

It’s amazing how many in the church haven’t experienced this in their own ministries or even driven out demons. When I talk about this stuff in church or even in the fiction books where my characters experience these things, I’m amazed that many church going people are sceptical or totally dismissive of these things.

I also think that turning ministry into a performance or seeing healing as a vindication for a ministry or big name evangelist or prophet has been a big problem. It’s great to see ordinary everyday people healing the sick and just giving the glory to God.

Amen brother…….if we truly have the word then we have the Spirit also, because the word is full of the Spirit of God in teaching and truth…..the Spirit and the word agree. Absolutely agree that the church of Jesus Christ, His Body, will manifest healing, deliverance and miracles…….each according to their gifts, done in humility, the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. I don’t believe the bible teaches that all the gifts will be seen in each and every individual in the Body of Christ, but for sure healing and deliverance and all gifts will be seen among us. Jesus was the only one who was given the Spirit without measure, whereas we have only a deposit…..guaranteeing what is to come upon His return.

Some precious understanding that the Lord was gracious to show me is that since sickness, disease and demonic oppression was the judgment that came about due to failure to keep the Law, when Jesus came healing and delivering, it spoke…….FORGIVENESS. These things are part of the package of the forgiveness that comes through Him, through the gospel…….they demonstrate His forgiveness. When Jesus healed the paralytic…He said, son be of good cheer thy sins be forgiven thee……..but so that you know the Son of Man has power to forgive sins, rise up and walk.

  7. Amen. The Good News will be proclaimed with signs and wonders and miracles of God. In the underground Church in China over 70% of believers come to the Lord through some sort of miracle. In the Gospel of Mark it says signs will “follow” those preaching the Good News. May we still be proclaimers of the message of God and allow the Lord to confirm it with mighty signs and wonders to glorify His Son Jesus.

  8. Andrew,
each member of the body of Christ must be connected to the Head – Jesus. It is the Head who tells what each member needs to do. Not all are eyes. Not all are ears. Not all are hands. Not all are feet. But we can all pray, intercede to the Father for Jesus to direct as He wills by the Holy Spirit. It is not the gift that we must seek but the Giver. Though we must covet, earnestly desire the best gifts for the right occasion, and all in and through love pure and sweet.

We must remember Jesus’ words (paraphrased) “I do and say NOTHING of Myself”. As the Father directs Me so I do.
This is our safety. This is the path of righteousness we must walk in.
As Jacob Prasch says along this line, we cannot lay hands on whomever we will and expect God to heal them.
It is not as we will, but as He wills. The gifts are holy things. The fruits are holy things and must be carried with great care. It is far more important that the fruits of the Holy Spirit are evidenced in our lives, than the gifts.

Jesus preached first then healed, this is seen in His own instructions to us in Mark 16. He did what He told us to do. The Master did and He told His disciples to follow. How many are wanting to do first then preach, if preach at all?

The pattern has been set for us. Let us seek God for His hand to move in us and out through us. Glory to God in the Highest, and peace and goodwilll to all men.

May the Lord indeed stretch our His hands through His body and bring forth the glory of God in peoples lives.

Spot on, Brother Andrew. Who would quarrel with miracles except the Pharisees and the Sad-to-sees, and of course the devils who don’t like being cast out!

Only yesterday I also did what you did – prayed for a lady wracked with pains after multiple surgery. She was instantly healed. I have been doing that since the glory anf grace of our Lord Jesus Christ flooded my life in January 1981.

I find that the more radical one is in his/her faith the more spectacular the miracle. There was the case of this Muslim colleague who was always sick and in and out of hospital. We were to hold an important meeting and she came to take permission to go to hospital. ‘Hajia, do you want me to pray for you?’, I asked her. She pulled up a chair, sat down and pleaded, ‘Please!’ I laid hands on her in the presence of the other colleagues and rebuked whatever it was that was bugging her. Case closed, till date.
Yea brother, the Word works if we work It by the Spirit.

  10. Andrew, what you speak of is actually the way things were before the great apostasy Bible believing christians are witnessing today. Straight is the gate and narrow is the way and few there be that find it is the message for these days. We must remain faithful to His Word by the Power of His Holy Spirit or we will surely go the way of Adam and Eve.

  11. 1 Corinthians 1:18
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

  12. Hallelujah Hallelujah I could not agree more, the WORD and the SPIRIT – it will very quickly expose those who adhere to one or the other.

The Lord is truly moving mightily and it is exciting to see and a privilege to be alive but with it comes responsibility – let’s go do so that Andrew can post more and more miracles.

  13. I watched a Pentecostal Preacher on TV some years ago. He longed for the old days at Campmeeting where miracles happened THEN proceeded to describe those Demonic Manifestations. In War on the Saints, it is rightly stated that if we cannot tell the difference between the supernatural sources, it is better to have none.

What is needed is Discernment of Spirits (per 1Cor 12). Demons can & do counterfeit some of the Spirits manifestations of power. Pray for that Discernment first, then the miracle

  14. Minister Karen Bishop Mar 17th 2016

Thank you for sharing this wonderful post. I’ve been say for years that the days of ‘big church’ full of pride and arrogance are coming to an end. They are lacking in the ‘feed my sheep’ department. I believe the fields are ripe, the laborers are few but there are ministries that have been sitting dormant that will begin to rise and take the rightful place of the dead, spiritually unproductive churches and in those ministries will be found the ministries that will bear the fruit of the healing, delivering, power of the Almighty God. I see revival coming to the land because I believe that there are those in the world that are hungry for truth and righteousness. They are crying out for a ministry/ministries to start to rise up and take a stand. My Love to you all in the Name of Jesus!

  15. Good Morning.
I agree with the miracles and the Spirit! And I really agree on keeping it short and simple. A long time ago I was in a church for 14 years and we were binding the devil left and right…REALLY! WASTED TIME!!!! Binding has nothing to do with that…. Lets just do like Jesus…simply! That is just the way He did and so we shall also! No juking, jiving, “I bind you satan”, and calling attention to “You:”. It isn’t about “You” Its about Jesus and His Kingdom come! And it is covered in PRAYER!!!! Thy Kingdom come Thy will be done! Amen!!

  16. Amen brother, I couldn’t say it any better. It is God doing His work through yielded, consecrated vessels. I am seeing God move hearts like never before “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that `life’ which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, `the faith’ which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

    2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves;

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater `works’ than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.

Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
    16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 unto him `be’ the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen.

  17. The real problem in the Church is not the lack of miracles. That is just a symptom. Jesus, as a Man, BECAME before He said or did anything (Luke 2:52 and Luke 4:1).We Christians have been immunized, inoculated, and anesthetized with so many words and yes, miracles (some real, many false) that we have never become what the Lord wants us to become. The end of the matter is not being born again and baptized in the Holy Ghost; that is just the beginning. Actually I tend to agree with Leonard Ravenhill who once said, “I doubt that no more than 2% of professing Christians are born again” (paraphrased). I doubt that few, if any, men have received more revelation than the Apostle Paul. He also did his share of miracles. But after 30 years of his ministry, Paul said, “That I might know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death …” The order of Scripture is important. “That I might know Him” is priority number one. Is there a greater “to do” list than to walk with God on a daily basis? I know of none. But we cannot walk with God unless we agree with Him and understand His eternal purpose for creating man. Esau traded his birthright and blessing for a piece of bread and a mess of red pottage of lentiles. As a result, he later found no place of repentance though he sought it carefully with tears. We have traded our nice books, nice “conferences,” nice sermons, etc. for knowing Him. We have a head full of information about the Bible (some good, much not so good) and mistake that for spirituality. This is the time when hearing the voice of the Lord has become a lost art. This is the time when every man has built his own box around his individual interpretation of the Bible. This is the time when every man has built his three tabernacles. This is the time when everything and everyone is going to his own place (Acts 1:25 and Revelation 22:10-14). This is the time of an abundance or multitude of different “folds,” but the Lord has only one flock. This is another time when professing Christians flock after the supernatural but neglect or give only lip service to the only true Author of the real supernatural. This is the time when we have replaced knowing the Lord with knowing things about the Lord. This is the time when we have traded the godly sorrow that worketh repentance unto salvation not to be repented of for the worldly sorrow that worketh death. This is the time when both evangelical and charismatic churches have reduced much of Scripture down to the natural realm; by definition that is called idolatry. This is the time when we have traded true fellowship, communion, koinonia, which is with the Father and with the Son, for socialization. This is the time when we have traded true communion of the Holy Ghost, which is between the Holy Spirit and our spirit, for a little piece of bread and a little sip of wine or grape juice, perhaps once a month or perhaps every Sunday. That may indeed make us feel holy, just as singing songs filled with scriptural truth, hearing revelation, being used in preaching, and moving in gifts of the Spirit can likewise make us feel holy. In that atmosphere we can draw near to Him with our lips but our heart may be far from Him. Everyone knows that the Lord corrected the mighty prophet Elijah and told him that He had 7,000 more that Elijah did not know about. How many of those 7,000 did Elijah ever meet? Zero! This is the time when the Lord is even scattering the remnant physically so that they must depend solely upon Him. This is the time when the Lord is going to shake our world so that we may see the basis for our religiosity. The Jews seek a sign (supernatural miracles) and the Greeks seek after wisdom (revelation about the Bible). Who seeks the Lord? I firmly believe that if our focus is on knowing Him and Him alone, then signs will follow without any striving on our part. I also firmly believe that if we focus on knowing Him and Him alone, then the Lord will give unto us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I believe all of the above so strongly that I have just about completed a book about these things. All we can do is to say, Father, make me. Help, Lord! We must cry out to the Lord for His great grace and mercy.

  18. John Roper Mar 17th 2016

    Good Word!

    Amen, Brother!

  19. Indeed the Word and the Spirt are both needed. Miracles should accompany the saved people of God when God deems it so. Like Andrew said not at our preference but at the will of God. Also what Tom M. said was crucial. We truly need discernment. Demons definitely imitate as did Pharaoh’s sorcerers when Moses threw down his rod and God turned it into a snake. The royal magicians turned their rods into snakes as well. But God was glorified in His manifestation devouring the demonic snakes. Gary was spot on when he wrote it is a problem with turning these miracles into a performance. I couldn’t agree more. Do not make the gift of healing a side show, people, please. It is to exalt God not magnify who we are because we are mere servants of a powerful God. It is not entertainment either. There have been so many fraudulent so-called healers and miracle workers that people are naturally suspicious and unbelieving. I understand that fully. That was the enemy’s exact plan, to throw doubt on God’s miracles but God is still in the business of miraculous movement and does show Himself in that manner. Jesus said we are to do what He did and even greater (I believe that means in number). I think the reason the Family of Faith is so powerless is simple. Our modern culture has been designed to diminish our spiritual connection and has succeeded. The power line coming to us is weak because we live in such a way that we block or weaken its conduit to heavenly places where we need to be. May God help and strengthen His people with the wisdom of teaching of the Gospel of Christ and manifested powers with divine intervention and the miraculous.

  20. Lourens Strydom Mar 17th 2016

I agree 100% with the article. So many false preachers on the pulpits today. Very few are truly called.

Mar 16:20 “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. ”

Acts 14:3 “Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.”

1Cor 2:4-5 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

1Cor 4:19-20 “But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”

1Thess 1:5 “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.”

Heb 2:4 “God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?”

  21. Rich Rennier Mar 17th 2016

Good word Andrew! It is unfortunate that many denominations and Christians don’t believe in the present day power of the Spirit to heal and deliver.

  22. Tenney Singer Mar 17th 2016

Thank you thank you Andrew! YES! I think a great many of the so-called diseases of the modern age are actually demonic in nature and cannot truly be dealt with by drugs (pharmacoeia, sorcery). The church has been remiss in not recognizing and dealing with demonic activity. As a young Christian I was warned not to even learn about such things, and definitely not to try to cast demons out. Now I see that in the name and authority of Jesus, “demons will have to flee.”

  23. My thoughts at first were comparing this to what I so desired to see, longed for, comparing it to something I had imagined in my mind many times. Healings (signs and wonders) were in scripture, but it wasn’t until after I dug into scripture that I saw some things just didn’t QUITE line up. And, we know that Christianity went off the rails because folks were willing to accept lies coached with a smattering of Truth.

I know my hearts desire is to see all the miracles and healings that took place in the New Testament. But if we look very closely at scripture, we see that the disciples who had lived with and travelled with Jesus had to wait to be given the authority from Jesus (The Word) to heal and cast out demons.

Most healings seem to have come through the Apostles Acts 2:42-43 and then James speaks of general healing through elders and prayer. anything further would be presumption on our part. We need to be very, very careful as these are dangerous times in which we live that Jesus warned the very elect being deceived!
“The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.” Luke 17:22

And then in Mark 13:22 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect.

    1 John Test the Spirits
4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 Thess 2:9-11 Speaks about the delusion, “God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false.”

AND, the cross-reference (ESV) for that phrase is to Revelation 17:17!! “For God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

Rev. 16:15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)

Proverbs 7:1-27 is a warning about the adulterous and who can commit adultery but someone already married? The Bride? She is seduced. The enemy is out to destroy us and the desires of our heart can be overcome by giving into our deepest desires without confirming whether they be our hearts’ desire or definitely HIS.

A little leaven spoils the whole batch. Look what happened to the wonderful moves of God from the early to mid 1970s! We ended up with the Toronto thing, NAR, The Call, etc.

My admonishment here? Search scripture and seek HIM to be absolutely sure we are walking in HIS heart’s desire. Truth coached in a lie is still a lie. We cannot and must not trust anyone but HIM or history will repeat itself, only worse, now, at the end of the age.

    Let us not presume anything!

  24. Steve Dobbs Mar 17th 2016

The danger is those who dont and never have moved in the gift of discernment of spirits proclaiming false teachings to be truth and more subtle forms of Toronto to be the Holy Spirit, then stopping those who wish to debate this with reason from commenting on this or other sites.

  25. Steve Dobbs Mar 17th 2016

Errm… I am assuming we are talking about Torbens movement here?

  26. ABSOLUTELY!!!!

  27. JohannaNoel Mar 17th 2016

My heart desires to see mighty manifestations of God’s Spirit moving on those lost and in torment. But I confess I have become so skeptical and grieved. I fear my discernment has morphed into judgmental attitudes and suspicion. Has my heart become hardened, is a question I am always asking myself. I am trying to bring my self back into balance. I needed to read this message. Thank you! Just to add, I am a long time follower of this ministry, have seen and experienced first hand the delusions and can remember a pastor saying to me once ” false fire is better than no fire.” Lord bring your purifing fire, your true cleansing fire, and start with my heart! I want to embrance TRUTH!

  28. Thank you for allowing us to comment Andrew.

“There it is – the WORD and the SPIRIT joined.” (Andrew quoting from Smith Wigglesworth). Would that we were so confident and able to quote from God’s word for our direction.

You state: “They become quite “gun-shy” of anything miraculous overly suspicious of anything ‘powerful’ that happens. They forget that God is an extremely “supernatural” God. They forget that the true gospel is supposed to be accompanied by healings and miracles – the mighty demonstration of the Spirit’s power.”

We are not “forgetting”, we have not become “gun-shy” to the power of God Almighty, we are not “suspicious” of God. We know very well that God is supernatural and only He can give His power to others.

The greatest miracle of all is the Creator of all came in human form, walked the earth and gave himself as the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins, that He might redeem our lives that we might serve Him and enjoy worshipping Him and spending time with Him. And now, thousands of years later, His seed that dwells in us has made us to conform to His image and we have His supernatural power to preach the good news to others and watch Him reveal to them exactly what He revealed from the beginning to set us free!!!

LUKE 17 20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”

Jesus Knows What Is in Man John 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.

You ask: ”Is it possible to preach the gospel (in the full New Testament sense) without healings and miracles?’ If we are being truly scriptural, surely we would have to answer, “NO, IT IS NOT.” They are totally designed to go together.”

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt 19

You state: “I am totally convinced that we must have both the ‘word’ and the visible demonstration of
God’s power. Just like they did in the Book of Acts.”

When you lead someone to Jesus by preaching the gospel that Jesus came to save the lost, the sinner, you certainly observe the lost person, as they are against God. Then you begin to observe that as you preach the truth of the gospel to them you see the light of God revealing to them personally go on in their eyes. When they ask you what must they do? Is that not a miracle to you?!!! They were once against God and you and now they are worshipping God with you?!!!!!! They begin to study His Word and simply cannot get enough!!!!! They begin to tell others about this Jesus who has changed them, they are truly a New Creation!

Then you say: “And the great thing is that we are finding we can pass this on to others also.” This is where some of those you speak of as “being overly suspicious of anything powerful that happens” have a problem. Only God can reveal to another their condition and the remedy and He chose to do that through the preaching of His Word. His word is a living word and reveals to another. He uses cleansed vessels to carry this to others. We do not need man to have a seminar or train us in how to pass this on to others. If our churches had preachers who were on their faces crying out to be used by God to preach His word with His power to convict and we heard anointed preaching every Sunday, we would be well equipped to go out and win the lost. The main thing is a true relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the giver, it is He we should spend time with inquiring.

A Tree and its Fruit MATTHEW 7
…21″Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22″Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23″And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

LUKE 17: 22 And he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 And they will say to you, ‘Look, there!’ or ‘Look, here!’ Do not go out or follow them. 24 For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.”

This is leading up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed, and we are so wanting more excitement we are at risk of looking for that excitement rather than looking to Jesus and our relationship with Him.

The Seventy-Two Return with Joy LUKE 10
…19″Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20″Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

You state: “The day of the “one man band” is coming to an end. Glory to Jesus!” Whether one man or many…Glory to Jesus!

1 Now concerning[a] spiritual gifts,[b] brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led.

27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the higher gifts.

And I will show you a still more excellent way.

    1 Corinthians 13:2
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

  29. Everything MUST line up with scripture. EVERYTHING. One subtle, little thing that seems off cannot be overlooked under any circumstance. That is the little bit of leaven! And, it will spoil the whole batch!

For something to deceive and delude the very elect, it means they failed to test the spirits. Failed to seek HIM and search scripture. I hear folks saying, “Nobody is perfect.” And that is so right and true! However, HE is perfect and IF we listen to HIM alone in and for ALL things…that is what keeps us in HIS perfect. It is when we fail to wait upon HIM to declare it to be so – BEFORE we latch onto or accept anything!

I know my heart is rotten and nothing good is in it. BUT, His spirit alive within me is good. It is that spirit I/we must always, always be attuned to or else we can be led astray.

The Word and The Spirit joined, AMEN. The desires of our very own heart have to totally out of the picture and allow HIM to determine right from wrong, truth from error.

For Jesus to warn that we would long for those days and not see them causes me great concern. We must not be so arrogant to think we cannot be deceived.

  30. Lisa Koska Mar 17th 2016

Praise God! It’s my heart’s desire to finally move in the Spirit like the book of Acts. I’ve spent quite a few years studying the Word & also deceptions in the Church & elsewhere. If someone is walking the walk & has the fruit of the Spirit in accordance with The Word I have no problem believing God is going to move like this though His body in these end of days.

  31. My brother Andrew is a delight to me, I am in favour of a demonstrable gospel, and one the equips the entire body of Christ. The task in the vineyard is too great to leave to a select few.

I don’t know about miracles being “a must” but I do know that in the resurrected living of those who are baptised into Christ that they are natural. My dear brother I would encourage you to stop living by the letter and allow the Holy Spirit to work in you.

We have a new life I Christ and should view everything in it that way [I hope I can make this plain]. In Mark 16 it says they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover; notice this is not a command but a revelation. Once you are born again through repentance, baptism, and the filling of the Holy Spirit miracles are a part of you, no one has to command you to do it.

Jesus did not say the works that I do you must do; but the works that I do you will do. It is spiritually natural and we all should be experiencing it if we have received a complete salvation.

I don’t know why the reference to the “backroom experience” [like some counter blow against everything that has gone before], but miracles are a sign to one and to many. If your friend is hungry you feed him, if he is sick pray that he may be healed. Let the Lord do it as he wills.

Remember the parable of the sower and let us not be like those who were planted in shallow soil because the test is sure to come and heat will press itself on you. This is indeed a season when the rain is falling enjoy it: delight yourself in the Lord.

On Tuesday Generocity Forbes had an evening where people could come and experience life in the Spirit. It was glorious. The gifts of the Spirit manifested among the church and the sick were healed. Andrew was in tremendous pain due to kidney stones. The pain left through the laying on of hands. A young lady with back ache felt the pain leave. You should have seen the surprised look on Leanne’s face when she felt something in her knee and went bounding around the church, look I can walk! I can walk! She was so impressed that she insisted her daughter Desi went for prayer for her shoulder and was healed.

Yes, the Holy Spirit wants to testify of Jesus, let us make way for him and be witnesses to Jesus. I have often preached on John 10: God wants to give you a testimony. We are all his witnesses. Amen.

Keep up the good work Andrew and all,

  32. Steve Dobbs Mar 17th 2016

All things are brought out in the open in the Kingdom of the light.
We must let the people who use this site find out and test Torbens teaching of “sinless perfection” for themselves… not hide it in the darkness.

  33. Steve Dobbs Mar 17th 2016

Christians dont have to be orthadox but they should be open and honest and open about what they are promoting… God wont be with things done in darkness.

  34. Andrew Mar 17th 2016

I do not believe in “sinless perfection”, Steve. But I do preach on the actual experience of a truly ‘clean heart’ before God and literally “feeling clean” before Him. Perhaps this is what Torben is referring to.

I very much doubt that he is teaching “sinless perfection” as such.

    Bless you!

    Andrew Strom

  35. John Robinson Mar 17th 2016

Andrew I seldom comment on your articles but the one on miracles was too good for me to remain silent about. I appreciate the word fitly spoken.

  36. Elspeth R Hunt Mar 17th 2016

Someone once said, ‘a person may have a genuine experience, but the way they interpret that experience theologically may not be accurate’ I think the same is true with Torben’s ministry. There is alot of good stuff, but don’t swallow everything without doing the work of discerning from the word yourself!! Not everything in the kingdom will be sorted by Christians going out and praying for others, as good as that is. Some still have to teach the bible thoroughly, others still have to intercede, etc.. ‘Is everyone a hand or a foot’?? Some may have a simple unrecognised task of loving and caring for dementia patients, or disabled people. The kingdom of God is vast, and the gifts of God are many!

  37. Andrew Mar 17th 2016

Elspeth – a very astute observation.

A lot of people experience a “clean heart” before God and feel literally so clean that they start preaching ‘perfectionism’. I believe this has commonly occurred down through history.

I call it simply the “Romans 8” experience.

    Bless you!

  38. The Spirit and word has never been separated except in the minds of gullible humans. Satan’s favorite target of alteration is YaHavah (YHVH in Hebrew). One of those alterations of understanding is in what is meant by the Greek word logos. The word logos is something said (including the thought); by implication a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive; by extension a computation. The Bible contains the inspired words spoken to his prophets and relayed in writing to the world.

To understand the problem of Smith Wigglesworth’s statement “When the word and the Spirit come together, there will be the biggest move of the Holy Spirit that the nation, and indeed, the world has ever seen,” we must understand that the word and the Spirit have never been separated, EXCEPT IN HUMAN UNDERSTANDING.

Why don’t people test the spirit of the things they think, hear, and see? When salvation is at stake is the time to be prudent and not so gullible. What is believed about YaHavah, his Spirit, and his truth is the deciding point of salvation.

I think Apostle John had a deeper understanding of the Spirit than his fellow apostles. He was well aware of Satan’s subterfuge when he wrote:
1John 5:6-8 6—This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. Moreover, it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7—For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, his word, and his Holy Spirit: and these three are one. 8—And there are three that bear witness in earth, His Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three are one.

There are many denominational understandings for these verses. The difficulty in understanding them makes it all the more important to rely on Bible context regarding the purpose of the first and second coming of Jesus Christ.

Verse 6 confirms that Jesus is the anointed Son of YHVH. He was conceived (blood kinship to YHVH, not Adam) by the power of YHVH’s Spirit, was anointed (baptized in the water of YHVH’s Spirit) and lived in the power of YHVH’s Spirit (he spoke and acted on the commands of his Father), was resurrected by the power of YHVH’s Spirit, and then ascended to be glorified in heaven, YHVH’s Spirit manifested to the disciples on the Day of Pentecost as promised.

Verse 7 confirms that YHVH’s word is literally his spoken word and his Spirit is literally his omnipresent person. In other words, Father, his Spirit, and his spoken words are all one inseparable package.

The Father is YHVH who spoke all into creation by the power of his omnipotent and omnipresent Spirit (He fills heaven and earth—Jeremiah). His spoken word promised the birth of his Son, Jesus, and made it so at his appointed time.

Verse 8 confirms the witness of Father’s presence on earth by the pouring out of his Spirit anointing (water as rain) and YHVH’s kinship (bloodline) to Jesus. The manifestation of YHVH’ blood kinship to Jesus and Spirit anointing cannot be separated from YHVH, they are a package deal.

These three verses have a cloud of controversy hovering over them because verse 7 is incorrectly claimed as proof text for the Trinity doctrine that separates YaHavah from his Spirit into two persons.

The Greek root word translated to water, literally means rain or shower. The imagery is consistent with OT prophecies concerning the outpouring of His Spirit in the latter times and with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Water is a double witness for Jesus’ anointing in YaHavah’s Spirit (Isaiah 11:1-2) at the start of his ministry and the outpouring of YaHavah’s Spirit after he ascended into heaven. (Revelation 5:6)

The Greek word haima is translated to blood which can be understood as either bloodshed or kindred. The context of verses 1-8 is that Jesus is the son of YHVH, therefore the witness of blood is the kinship of Father and Son, which in turn makes the Son free of the sin of Adam and worthy to die for our salvation. The blood then, is also a double witness.

    You want miracles?

When all is said and done, YHVH cannot be split into two persons. Will the Church have the wisdom and decency to put YaHavah back together with his Spirit as one person, not two? Only then will there be an outpouring of the Spirit of YaHavah greater than ever before. Visit http://www.freebiblpdf.com to see what testing the spirit is about.

  39. Well said Mary. It is, of course, utter nonsense to suggest that the Word of God and the Spirit of God are able to operate in isolation from each other. Any spirit which leads away from the Word of God is clearly satanic in origin and must be totally rejected by all who will be saved on the coming day of Judgement.

  40. Andrew Mar 17th 2016

Nobody is suggesting that the word and the Spirit operate in isolation. What was said is that those with an EMPHASIS on the word and those with an EMPHASIS on the Spirit coming together bring something powerful. They were always supposed to work together. It is man that has split things up (seemingly).

Thus we get the “word” type preachers and the “Spirit” type preachers. Not ideal.

    Blessings to all,

    Andrew Strom

  41. It is, of course, impossible for such separate emphases to apply in reality. God has sent His Spirit to point to His Word, Jesus Christ. The emphasis must always be on Christ, The Word of God.

  42. Andrew Mar 17th 2016

Yes – but the point is that huge sections of the church today focus almost solely on the “word” while others focus on the ‘Spirit’.

    This ought not to be.

That is what the article is saying.

    -Andrew Strom

  43. When speaking with apostate Pastors regarding false teaching and practices I have been informed that they do not care about Bible doctrine they only care about their “anointing.” I have also been informed that biblical theology will not lead to salvation. These and many other disgusting things are being done to entrench the church in wholesale apostasy apparently in the name of “the Spirit.” I am unable to identify the Spirit they refer to as being the Holy Spirit. Genuine christians need to “Hold fast, stand firm to the faith once delivered” or even the very elect of God will be deceived by these doctrines of demons.

  44. Andrew Mar 17th 2016

The word and the Spirit together are most essential.

    Bless you!

  45. Andrew, I am assuming that you now hold to a different view on bethel church and Bill Johnson etc?? Do you still think this ministry is a ministry of deception? Also, what is Torben’s position on bethel?

Last thing, if everyone is claiming all these miracles. Can somebody please send me 1 video example of an irrefutable miracle happening on camera. Please don’t send a video of a leg growing or an internal (invisible) healing that isn’t obvious. I mean, I want a video such as an amputee re gaining a full leg or harm or a down syndrome person being healed or somebody who has something clearly deformed on their body. Anyone??

  46. Andrew Mar 17th 2016

There are people in Torben’s movie standing and walking (running, cycling) after many years of being unable to do so.

And no – we have not changed our stance on Bethel at all. And Torben is just as strongly opposed to that stuff as I am.

    Bless you!

    Andrew Strom

  47. The Spirit is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The same Spirit we see manifest when Peter, a simple (un-educated) fisherman spoke and 3000 were “hit” with a deep conviction to repent and get saved, and when the Apostle Paul did His work.
Paul said: “…and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,…” (1Cor.2:4)

However, the fact is that out of 10s of millions of Christians throughout the centuries very few kept displaying such a Holy Ghost power. What made them different from the other millions of believers? Were they perhaps extra spiritual or “better” followers of Christ? I think not! I have met the most dedicated, on-fire believers with a heart of gold, who did not have any Spirit powers. And yes, they did desire such power; who wouldn’t?

To this fact I have only one answer: God is sovereign to choose time, place, persons, and level of empowerment! But I must agree with Andrew, that I sense that He indeed saved the best wine for last, and we will soon witness the greatest outpouring of His Spirit in history, bringing in a great end-time harvest. But I also believe, since man will always be weak and looking to a man while putting him on a pedestal, this time the Lord will do things Himself, through His presence, rather than anyone laying on hands.
Andrew, we simply can’t help it; people love to lift up the guy with the power. Even if it’s more people than ever who have Holy Ghost powers. “So-and-so healed me. You should go to him.” I strongly sense that this final outpouring will look very different. While people pray or/and worship and praise Jesus, He will come by His Spirit to heal and set free.

“I was in that meeting and suddenly I felt this warm shiver come over me and the pain was completely gone.” “Awesome, who did it; who prayed for you?” “ Nobody. We were just praising Jesus.”

And since He alone is doing it, He alone gets the FULL Glory for it all!

    The Best Wine is Himself!

    Blessings, and All 4 Jesus!

(PS: Have you noticed that after a guy does “something”…, there seems to always come the book, the training, the study guide etc., which we can purchase $$$$$.)

  48. God is giving us himself , Jesus. To think that anyone should need or want anything more than Jesus is to lose touch with what God the Father is doing. He offers us only Jesus as Lord, and won’t diminish Christ by adding anything else. Jesus himself is ours and life with him eternal. Needing anything more than Jesus leads to deception, only he can keep us if we hold on to the revelation God gives us about who Jesus is.

What The Father wants is for Jesus to mean more than anything ,far above all other things because He is worthy .If you want someone to have Jesus ,give them Jesus . Because God is love ,nothing else matters to him except to find those who will give Him the love he deserves. Find Jesus and love him .

  49. Micheal Madigan Mar 18th 2016

I agree , The church , much of it wants to share in the glory , which reveals pride . Much of what really happens in the miracles is outside the church walls , we are to carry oil , and be ready each day . To much games and manipulation with in many church walls with regards to healing and miracles . One thing I know , is when confronted with life and death situations , the Lord will bring us right to the edge of our fear of being used as an instrument . He will always honor our obedience , but never share His Glory , as it all belongs to Him . The time is now , the day is here , carry oil , and wine , walk by His spirit , amen

  50. Andrew Mar 18th 2016

Wouldn’t it be great if God could just use ANGELS to do all the preaching and all the healing. A whole lot less risk and a whole lot less trouble.

But amazingly he has chosen to use men to do this work. And He will continue to do so. In last days revivals too.

With all their faults, God continues to use men. Staggering, really.

This time will be no different. Otherwise the Bible would have to be changed.

    Bless you!

    Andrew Strom

  51. JeffM wrote: “He offers us only Jesus as Lord, and won’t diminish Christ by adding anything else.”

Absolutely Jeff. By adding ANYTHING to Jesus’ finished work on the cross we are actually taking away from what He accomplished. It is like adding heat to water. It simply evaporates.

Andrew: Seeing that we are talking about the Holy Spirit deciding to empower a believer, how can that be taught? Paul said that not everyone is empowered to do this or that, but he made clear that we should eagerly desire (be hot for) the gifts of the Spirit. (1Cor.12) God then decides when, what and to whom He gives…

I do not think that Jesus taught the disciples how to heal someone. They just watched Him do it. Instead, He taught them how to humbly follow Him; how to pray; who the Father is, and what God’s plan and purpose, laid out in Scripture, are.

I think we can teach Biblical principles, who the Trinity are, and the necessary fundamentals in order for the Lord to be able to use us in any way He wishes; (i.e. don’t be lukewarm if you want to be used. Rev.3:14) From what I see, you are doing a great job Andrew, teaching these important things. In the end it’s not about us. God’s purpose and timing are perfect. He alone can see into the deepest parts of a person.

I believe, more than anything, we should keep desiring Himself above anything and everything else. (Mary and Martha come to mind.) What we have seen so much of in modern days is that the work of the Lord has become more important than the Lord of the work. Instead of running WITH Jesus we are either lagging behind (fear and insecurity, or no passion for Jesus), or we’re running ahead of Him, trying to drum up something. The deeper we are connected with Jesus through a true and honest relationship with Him, build on love in freedom, the more likely we will receive from Him.

I absolutely agree with you that the Lord will do a great work very soon. Now is the time to pave the way for the final end-time outpouring by teaching what 2 Chr.7:14, “if MY people repent …” is all about. (If Christians don’t repent who will? Neh.9:2) Now is the time to get people off the fence. (Js.4:4) Now is the time to pray and seek His face like we’ve not done. Now is the time to ask for His conviction to fall upon His people.
    Conviction – Repentance – Revival

When His Spirit falls into our various places of praise and worship from the heart He will manifest through healing and breaking off chains and bondages.

I absolutely agree that far too long the focus was on a certain, empowered man. But I strongly believe that this final move will have no “names” attached to it.

It’s just going to be Himself while we pray, praise and worship.

    Blessings, and all 4 Jesus!

  52. Greetings, Brother Andrew!

    Great piece.
As I’ve studied the Word and walked with the Lord, I’ve been realizing more and more that you CANNOT truly have the Word or the Spirit without the other. They CANNOT and DO NOT operated singly. They work together. Christ emphasized this in describing the new birth to Nicodemus in John 3. One cannot even be regenerated without the Water of the Word and the Holy Spirit doing the work necessary to bring one into the new birth. The Word would not exist without the Spirit as He is its Author. The Word is Living because the Holy Spirit infuses the Word with Life and together they work in the life of the disciple of Christ to do all They do in one’s life.

I’ve just briefly skimmed through some of the comments as time is short, so if I write what someone else has, please forgive me. I must comment one on other issue – any of us who share the Gospel (which should be every follower of Christ) should be careful to both seek the Holy Spirit ahead of time and also be sensitive for His working as we minister, that we might have discernment of spirits, recognizing when one is demonized and needs deliverance. In the accounts in the NT where we are given enough details, the preaching of the gospel was accompanied by both healing and the casting out of demons. We see that they are the three legs of a stool – each working with the other to demonstrate, not merely the truth of the Gospel, but also the power of the Gospel to set people free.

I pray for myself, you, and others, that God would continue to grow us in ministering the Jesus Christ of the Bible in opposition to the false gospels which abound.

God bless, brother. Keep fighting the fight.

Your servant in Christ, Pastor Wayne

  53. Wayne wrote: “Straight is the gate and narrow is the way and few there be that find it is the message for these days.”

Straightforward, not complicated; narrowed down to Jesus, is the way.

Of course, the Word and the Spirit are one. “Let there be light,” and so it was. There is power in the Word!

    Blessings, and all 4 Jesus!

  54. Right on Andrew. Thank you for posting this encouraging word. God will pour out His Spirit in these last days on His purified, purged church in a mighty way. I’ve known this in my spirit for many years. We seek and long to be part of those who are faithful to the end. May our Lord Jesus be magnified and glorified in the earth and in our midst! Praise His name!!!

  55. Caroline Mar 18th 2016

YOU are so right on,Andrew. We know this is true. Our Lord is awesome and He will display His mighty power through a believing people. Keep speaking his truth. God bless.

  56. Just to encourage you, Andrew. P.. My husband and I were so blessed by the movie, The Last Reformation… By the soundness of the application of the Word with the confirmation by the Spirit’s power… We sent the link to our kids as a solid example of the direction we believe the church should be moving. My future daughter in law showed it to her friend named Amy. Well, Amy took it to heart. She was walking in a city near where we live two days later and a woman stopped her and asked for directions to a medical clinic. Amy gave her directions, but also asked the woman why she was limping. The woman had been in pain for over 30 years with a hip problem. She was heading to a clinic to see a surgeon for a hip replacement. Amy offered to pray with her and the woman’s hip was totally healed on the spot. It was the first time in 30 years that she had been out of pain. They were able to talk about the love of Jesus. The woman realized that it was Jesus who healed her. God is amazing. Please be encouraged in your stand for true revival.

Yes, Miracles, the by product of abiding in and following our Master daily by listening to and heeding the voice of Jesus Holy Spirit – should be normal Christian life.

Praise God He is making that Normal book of Acts Christian life possible again after all these years.

It is as Torbin says just in the doing, and going out to pray for people. God is moving amazingly and many many healings are occurring according to God’s Permissive will.

These are the prayers for healing whereby God decides he is going to permit that prayer to be answered and all glory goes to Him.

However, we have seen God moving step by step to restore His original Book of Acts church.

The next step, I believe, is that God will gradually move His own toward operating in His PERFECT Will – that Jesus and the apostles and Smith Wigglesworth and John G Lake operated in.

This is where the disciple only moves and ministers and acts – in accordance with God’s Will where by the disciple – continually seeks the Lord’s holy Spirit instructions.
And having heard the Spirit’s instructions we then obey HIM in word and deed.
This type of ministry is far more powerful, and I believe this is God’s next step.

If any one is interested I am offering my 10 years of research on this subject for free. Plus 9 brilliant article references.

We are like “angels-in-training”…..Jesus said we shall be like the angels….remember the angel in Revelations that said do not bow down to me, I am one of your brothers…and know ye not that we shall rule and reign with Him. Like the angels.

But……..the Lord will not share His glory with another……..if we don’t keep our hands off His glory it pollutes the whole thing and opens a door to demonic infestation…..judgment. That’s what makes it a counterfeit = mixture. ALL power in heaven and earth is HIS. Let us all be gravely warned. He is HOLY, His works are HOLY…they are HIS works, not ours. His ways are not the world’s ways…we simply can’t say that strongly enough. Do not offer strange fire on His altar.

Let not the left hand know what the right hand is doing, rejoice not in that demons listen to you, shun the limelight as much as possible, etc, etc……..keep it simple and humble and hands of flesh off! Like Jesus did. As has been pointed out Christ and His gospel is the main thing, signs and wonders simply FOLLOW it. Signs and wonders are not the main event…if they become the main event to our hearts, then we are in desperate trouble.

If there is to be an end-time harvest per se……..it will come with persecutions we can be sure of that, because we are promised persecutions and tribulation such as the world has never seen. And according to the bible we can expect a counterfeit….the day of the Lord will not come until the son of perdition has been revealed….”Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.” Let us be very sober and alert.

  61. Jim & Charlene Lovett Mar 18th 2016

I totally agree with what you wrote. But I have a question…Smith Wigglesworth was in my estimation a mighty man of God, and he never read anything except the Bible. He wouldn’t even allow someone who came to visit him to bring a newspaper into his home. Don’t you think that we have overloaded ourselves with not only newspapers, but also the internet, movies, TV, cell phones, etc? You cannot walk into any store or restaurant without seeing almost everyone on the cell phone or playing a game online. So much so that we have made it difficult for the Holy Spirit to break through it all to use us as conduits for miracles. My husband and I discuss this often, and he doesn’t agree with me on this. Smith Wigglesworth is one of my modern-day spiritual heroes. He would be eating a meal and stop to read scripture. When asked why he did it, he said that he was feeding his body with food, and must also feed his spirit with spiritual food. Who do you know these days who does that?? Technology isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I believe it can be detrimental to the working of miracles these days. I believe that is why we don’t see more miracles happening. Even Christians are caught up in technology, and it makes satan very happy.

  62. Much of this article, movement, subject being discussed focuses on wanting to be the Church of Acts. The Book of the Bible is entitled: THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES. Nowhere in Acts do I read of instruction for all believers on how to go out and do the same ACTS as the apostles. Instead, I read where “all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.” They met together day by day attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received the food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Not too many articles on how to sell all we have and share with other believers with the same excitement. Or how Stephen, full of grace and power was doing great wonders and signs among the people, which created quite a stir among the synagogue as they disputed him, however, they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. Which stirred them even more to instigate the masses against him. When the high priest asks him if these things were true, it opened the door for him to preach the gospel with power. We know the end of it is the stoning death of Stephen.

Acts is the account of God laying the foundation of the church which Jesus gave himself for, paid with his incorruptible blood. A firm foundation. He empowered the apostles, telling them before He died to wait until they received the power to go and witness. Jews could not believe that Gentiles would be included as chosen by God, however, God determined that the laying on of hands would allow His Holy Spirit to flow from he apostles hands to another who truly were chosen by God. The witnesses would hear in a tangible language the new convert praising God. As Peter asks: “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

Then we read where the apostles were sent out. While they were fasting and praying the Holy Spirit spoke and they then laid hands on them and sent them off. These apostles suffered wherever they went, being imprisoned, flogged, stoned, as they were true to the leading of the Spirit. These “one man bands” were able to reach multitudes both ignoble and those of great import.

This is the BOOK OF THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES and the church of that time.

  63. Yes, we must be watchful! There’s been so much counterfeit stuff in the past; so many strange fires! I do hope that Torben can handle the fame…; many in the past could not!

I do believe that there will be a major difference in the final, end-time revival. Man will not get any glory, because man will simply only be a facilitator for the Holy Spirit to do His thing. Like a genitor who cleans and prepares a concert-hall (deep prayer and repentance) and then, humbly, just opens the doors to the concert-hall so the star (Holy Spirit) can touch His audience.

God is looking for genitors (facilitators) who will never become the star of the show, like we’ve seen so much of in the past when the HolySpirit’s power was used to glorify a man.(+$$$$)

With deep prayers in humility, and with repentance for all manner of sins (personal; city; country see James 4:4; Nehemiah 9:2 and Daniel) the genitor cleans a place so that the special guest-star (Holy Spirit) can come in. And with praise and worship the genitor and the people invite the special guest-star to “perform” His miracles. And since He is doing it, He alone will be lifted up!

  64. awesome truth love it

  65. About Revival:
You can only revive something or someone that exists but has become comatose, i.e. unconscious; unconscious of the fact that he is walking without Jesus and therefore without deep revelations and without power. That is precisely the state of His church today. There is no awareness and no power.

“Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” (Eph.5:14)

When a person becomes a believer and has a deep encounter with Jesus, falling in love with Him, they never think that, one day, their relationship with Jesus would fall into a deep coma. To me Revival is the reviving of the people’s love for Jesus Christ.

  66. As was mentioned earlier, God IS supernatural, so anything done through Him is a “miracle” in that its not accomplished by man. Being born again is the greatest miracle imaginable because it affects the eternal outcome of the soul-Jesus said you will do greater works than these in reference to laying on of hands and praying someone through to the in filling of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in tongues! When we experience true repentance and have our sons washed away in Baptism -acts 2:38- we SHALL receive the Holy Ghost! But it requires a pressing in-the violet take it by force…this is truly the greatest miracle I’ve experienced-even though I have had a miraculous healing-only being born again-dying, being buried with Christ and walking in newness of life is a miracle that will last forever!

  67. Sins not sons ?

  68. @ Mario Alleckna
“Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” (Eph.5:14)

Still true today. About revival? With God you have to go all the way, not some or most of what The Lord wants but all of it. So that is why our Lord and Savior has people thinking about being like the disciples in The New Testament, the early church .

Andrew wrote, ‘ Even if we preach with powerful conviction, the fact is, without
miracles I have to wonder whether we really are representing
true New Testament Christianity. I am totally convinced that we
must have both the ‘word’ and the visible demonstration of
God’s power. Just like they did in the Book of Acts. ‘

Here is the problem, if you go back(to Acts) you are before Christianity. No one who wrote the New Testament mention it (Christianity) and they did not call themselves christian , they called themselves ‘followers of The Way’. They were called christian by outsiders and even to this day the definition of who is called a christian is in the hands of outsiders who ironically call themselves christian too. So there is where you get modern Christianity , anyone can join it’s easy. But it isn’t the church being built by the hand of Jesus with nothing added to it by man and the adversary.Christianity is the religious attempt to add to what God is doing and call the mixture Christ’s Church, it’s not His Church .

If you get rid of everything The Holy Spirit did not do you have gotten rid of Christianity and are back to The New Testament Church.Followers of The Way meaning Jesus the Messiah. The Church never got itself stuck inside of Christianity , in God’s mind it has always been separate. The point being that The Lord is not trying to fix Christianity , there is no reformation , Jesus continues to build what He started in The New Testament and calls us to join Him. They didn’t call themselves christian or consider themselves to be a part of Christianity , so we can be sure it is not from The Lord or we would have instruction in the written word about doing it. It was all added to His work. It isn’t about names and labels , a terrible attack and great deception are at work, if you try to be like The New Testament believers you end up at odds with the religion we call Christianity, enemies from a certain view. You have to give it all up or the part (not from God) you hang onto will undo your efforts.Revival doesn’t work ,following Jesus does.

    Ask Jesus what is true.

  69. One of Keith Greens songs.. 🙂

Keith followed Jesus, promoted Jesus, and is with Him now.

  70. JeffM, yes followers of the Way, seeing that Jesus IS the Way, Truth and Life.
The term “Christian” = a follower of Christ and His teachings. I wouldn’t be too concerned with the term “Christian.” As you wrote, “it isn’t about names and labels…”
“People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1Sam.16:7)

Anyhow, I absolutely agree with Andrew that the church is lacking power, there is no question about that (I have written about it in my book). However, the fact is that out of millions of believers over the past centuries few have displayed the power we see in Jesus and His first disciples. Why? Did only these few desire to be empowered by His Spirit? Were they perhaps extra special?
Are we today suddenly aware of the lack of power in His church, or can we assume that, in the past there were many other followers of Christ who earnestly prayed for, and desired to have the power of the Holy Ghost manifest in and through them?

Again, my critique of today’s church leaders has always been that they do not display any of what we see in the leaders of the first church; incl.Holy Spirit power.

Why is it that there is no power in the church?

Here is what A. W. Tozer had to say: (Quote) “The weakness of so many modern Christians is that they feel too much at home in the world. In their effort to achieve restful adjustment to unregenerate society, they have lost their pilgrim character and become an essential part of the very moral order against which they are sent to protest. The idea that this world is a playground instead of a battleground has now been accepted in practice by the vast majority of Christians. There is today no lack of Bible Teachers to set forth correctly the principles of the doctrines of Christ, but too many of these seem satisfied to teach the fundamentals of the faith year after year, strangely unaware that there is in their ministry no manifest Presence, nor anything unusual in their personal lives.”A. W. Tozer

My previous posts should be very clear about how I see that this final “move” of God will be different.

You wrote: “Revival doesn’t work, following Jesus does.”
In order to follow Jesus one must be awake, and compelled (through love, conviction, and the fear of the Lord) to follow Him. A new believer is usually wide awake and in love with Jesus. But over time the focus on, and love for, Jesus vanishes. Soon they are wide awake in the world and asleep in Christ. Only God, through His Spirit, can revive that first love. After all, without Him we can do nothing!

It took God to create us; it took Jesus to save us, and it takes the Holy Spirit to empower us to live the life He calls us to live. All we can do is pray and eagerly desire Himself, always being careful that the work of the Lord does not become more important than the Lord of the work!

The power of the Holy Ghost has always been desired by many. There were even those who wanted to buy it with money (Simon the Sorcerer).

Excellent Andrew, We are on the same page. We find marvellous things happen when we dare to obey the final command. My wife Lyn and I like to obey the resurrected Christ’s final command as recorded by Mark,{16:14 to the end}. First He rebuked them for their unbelief, then told them to “Go” and that is how the Church began. They went, and preached and the Holy Spirit confirmed,[and performed], the Word with signs following as He Promised.
Any one not doing this is not full filling His command, and missing out on very satisfying and exciting Christian LIFE.
I encourage everyone . DARE to BELIEVE and OBEY.
